Collide Theatrical Announces 10th Season

Collide Theatrical Dance Company announces its Tenth Anniversary Season, featuring an exciting lineup of innovative dance theater.

The 2023/2024 season opens in September with The Great Gatsby. Originally produced by Collide in 2018, the company will present an updated version this year. Re-imagined through a modern lens, this timely tale explores the dark underbelly of the American dream, a story no less poignant a century later.

In February 2024, Collide will stage the world premiere of Hollywood, which tells the compelling and hopeful story of a Hollywood starlet and a political eco-activist struggling for survival in a climate-ravaged near-future California.

Collide continues its tradition of spotlighting underrepresented voices with the next installment of their St. Paul–based cabaret series. In the show, titled Journeys, Collide Theatrical dancers will collaborate with local Ukrainian refugees to tell their stories through dance and music.

Collide will also bring back its hit production of Wonderland and tour the mental health–themed production to middle and high schools throughout Minnesota.

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Collide will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary with a fundraising gala. The evening will feature silent and live auctions, cocktails, and heavy appetizers, and will culminate with a performance highlighting favorite dance excerpts from the past decade.

Season subscriptions are available for purchase now, with individual tickets going on sale August 1, 2023.

The Cowles Center’s 2023–24 Season

The Cowles Center announces their stellar 10-production season of shared performances, new work commissions, mainstage debuts, co-productions, world premieres, and a returning holiday tradition! Mark your calendar – tickets on sale August 1.

This season promises to showcase the artistic progression of all those that engage with The Cowles Center. We have a Generating Room artist making their Cowles debut, a 2021 MERGE artist now sharing the stage for the Fall Forward Festival, two artists from last year’s Fall Forward Festival presenting full-scaled productions, reimagined pieces featured at other venues, and of course a returning holiday tradition. Presenting a well-rounded season is at the forefront of our work, but so is professional and artistic development, and this season perfectly represents that momentum-building. We’re proud of the stepping stones we’ve built into our programming and will continue to be supportive players in accelerating the careers of artists throughout the state.

Give to the Max Day – Please Consider a Gift to ARENA DANCES

ARENA DANCES is participating in the thirteenth annual Give to the Max giving event taking place this year starting on Tuesday, November 1, and culminating on Thursday, November 17. Give to the Max is a statewide giving event that raises millions each year for more than 6,000 causes across Minnesota and beyond. Considered Minnesota’s holiday for generosity, donors have given more than $225 million since the inaugural Give to the Max Day in 2009.

Please consider making a generous gift to ARENA DANCES this November to support numerous impactful upcoming projects in the 2022/2023 season, including:

The continuation and expansion of ARENA’s DanceON educational outreach program, focused on incorporating dance into K-12 Minneapolis Public Schools, along with the development of workshops for professional performing artists to acquire skills of dance pedagogy to teach in these K-12 academic settings. This season, DanceON will hold residencies in the Lucy Laney Community School and Hall STEM Academy.

The seventh annual CANDY BOX Dance Festival, which aims to offer masterclasses, panel discussions, performances featuring both emerging and established choreographers, and more taking place April 24-29, 2023 at The Southern Theater.

Sponsor a dancer towards the research for ARENA’s next work entitled Erased Steps, beginning with the $6,000 needed for movement generating rehearsals starting in January 2023 with the talented Dustin Haug, Leslie O’Neill, and Laura Selle Virtucio. Erased Steps will premiere in fall 2023 with a cast of 12-16 Twin Cities dancers at the Union Depot in St. Paul.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 this Give to the Max season to further ARENA’s impact in creative education, arts engagement, and curation of live performances to share with our wonderful dance community.

We thank you for your contribution and consideration.
