Doma Dance Theater continues CHYŽA, a week-long micro-residency program.

“Chyža” (huzhzhah), meaning house, room, cottage, or cabin, is a word only found in the Carpatho Rusyn language. With this in mind, we invite artists needing concentrated, unrestricted, settled time in one place to make our studio your chyža. Possible intentions are (but are not limited to) cleaning work, long rehearsals, set development, prop work, pre-tech research, low-tech preproduction, small showings, micro intensives, solo research, etc.

Weeks range from May to September. Residency weeks run Monday-Sunday.
Residents determine their own schedule but are encouraged to use a minimum of 10 hours in the studio.
Additionally, artists receive 1-2 hours of mentorship/eyes/ears/chat/Zoom during their stay from one artist from the Doma Team; mentor availability is pending.

This is an ongoing program with a rolling first-come, first-served application form for residency weeks. Apply now!

Hello from MN Dance Task Force!

We are currently collecting performance dates from professional dance artists and companies across Minnesota for the August 2026–July 2027 season, as well as information on class, rehearsal, and performance spaces available for rental.

If you or your organization would like to be included in our developing statewide database, please complete the attached Google Forms by Monday, June 15.

This information will be shared with DanceMN and Springboard for the Arts to help strengthen communication, increase visibility for dance activity across the state, and support up-to-date space rental listings and future resource sharing efforts. A grant is currently pending to support the publication of a statewide dance performance calendar released every six months.

Please reach out to MN Dance Task Force intern Sophia Islam at SophiaLislam@gmail.com with any questions.

Thank you for helping us strengthen Minnesota’s dance community!

Sincerely,
Sophia Islam and the MNDTF
