Independent choreographer Hannah MacKenzie-Margulies seeks a minimum of five dancers/creative collaborators for a contemporary dance adaptation of Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins, a picture book by Eric Kimmel with illustrations by Trina Schart Hyman. Intended as a “Nutcracker alternative,” the production will be tailored towards kids and families, with a roughly 35-minute runtime and (budget-permitting) live klezmer music.
Rehearsals and performances will be held at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Capp Center in St. Paul. Performances will be December 26 at 7:00pm, December 28 at 7:00pm, and December 29 at 2:00pm. Additional outreach performance opportunities may also be available. For more information, including the rehearsal schedule and compensation details, and to apply, please see the linked Google form.
Applications will remain open through midnight Central Time on Sunday, September 1, and decisions will be communicated via email by 5:00pm on Sunday, September 8.
All are welcome and encouraged to apply. If you need any accommodations in completing your application or have questions, please reach out to Hannah at ziessel@gmail.com.
