Hello, my name is Alanna! I am an accomplished dancer (Dance Magazine‘s 2018 “25 to Watch!;” City Pages’ 2019 “Artist of the Year;” 2015’s McKnight Dance Fellow), choreographer (2022 Springboard Danse Montréal Fellow, 2021 McKnight Choreographer Fellow), and trauma-informed educator with a background in arts and cultural program management.
I am the founder of I A.M. Arts, a non-profit organization since 2017, dedicated to presenting critical dance performance, offering (w)holistic educational programs, and supporting community arts initiatives, with experience in providing program management, events coordination, and consultation services to independent creatives and organizations, focused on creating lasting impacts in communities of color.
My expertise is in organization, culturally-responsive community engagement (especially with diverse communities) and team-building.
Current clients: Her Royal Majesty Dr. Dòwòti Désir and the Minnesota Dance Theater & School
Past clients: Dancer and Performer Elizabeth Flinsch and the Oshun Center for Intercultural Healing.
As a “high capacity” person I have seen my artistic work suffer by wearing too many “hats”; and I see this as a huge problem for many independent artists. I bring clarification, organizing, logistical and administrative support, along with values of self and communal care to my clients, which allow for an easeful and joyful experience so they can focus on doing what they do best! I have managed projects in Minnesota and New York City.
