Doma Dance Theater’s CHYŽA: Week-Long Micro Residencies Program

Doma Dance Theater continues CHYŽA, a week-long micro residencies program.

“Chyža” (huzhzhah), meaning house, room, cottage, or cabin, is a word only found in the Carpatho Rusyn language.

With this in mind, we invite artists needing concentrated, unrestricted, settled time in one place to make our studio your chyža. Possible intentions are (but are not limited to) cleaning work, long rehearsals, set development, prop work, pre-tech research, low-tech preproduction, small showings, micro intensives, solo research, etc.

Residency weeks run Monday-Sunday.
Residents determine their own schedule but are encouraged to use a minimum of 10 hours in the studio.
Additionally, artists receive 1-2 hours of mentorship/eyes/ears/chat/Zoom during their stay from one artist from the Doma Team, mentor availability is pending.

This is an ongoing program with a rolling application form for residency weeks available January-May.

Donate Your Single-Use Plastics for The Awe Factor Performance

Plastic Free Challenge Plastic Drive: On Thursday, February 27, Analog Dance Works is presenting a reprise performance of The Awe Factor, a contemporary dance production of a horror dream landscape on a plastic island that premiered in May 2024. This reprise is part of Hennepin County’s Plastic-Free Challenge. We are bringing this work back to the Alliance Française Mpls/St. Paul, who is once again graciously letting us trash their lobby for the show! Help contribute to the production by donating your single-use plastics!

The Awe Factor uses 10 cubic yards of single-use plastics. That’s a lot of plastic! You can help us bring this show to life by dropping off your plastic bags, bubble wrap, mail packaging, and unsoiled food bags at one of our drop-off sites:

Donation Deadline: Tuesday, February 25
Can’t make it to a drop-off site? Reach out to Brenna at director@analogdanceworks.org for other options.

Seeking Studio Mirrors

I am looking for mirrors for my studio.

The wall is about 16 feet long, but it does not have to be that long.
The height should be 4 or 5 feet long.

Email me at sachikolachayi@gmail.com if you know of any available mirrors.
