About
Converge is a 3-company production spotlighting the next generation of dance companies in the Twin Cities. Amez Dance, Analog Dance Works and Ruby Josephine Dance Theater come together in a synergistic collaboration to create 3 new explorational contemporary dance works with a shared cohort of local movers, uplifting values of community, connection and opening up doors and perspectives for both dance artists and audiences.

We are searching for 7 dancers to be a part of this project. Movers of all different dance backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to audition, however we are looking for those with strong skills in contemporary. All dancers will be cast in all three company works and must be available for the entirety of the rehearsal process.

Important Information: 
Performance dates: July 18-20, 2025
Tech rehearsals: July 14-17, Specific times TBD
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:00-8:00pm and Sundays 10:00am-1:00pm, January 2025-July 2025
Pay Rate: $20/hour for rehearsals and performances

Rhythmically Speaking Call for Choreographer Interest

Rhythmically Speaking, a Twin Cities-based dance company with a 16-year history and a national reputation for excellence in sparking vibrancy and connectedness through jazz and American social dance ideas, currently has a Call for Choreographer Interest live to help us get to know artists who may be interested in working with us on future annual summer programs, which in 2025 will include a film screening with collaborator Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema.

Seeking Instructor: Ballroom, Swing, and Social Dance

Our dance studio is located in Monticello, MN, and we are looking for a dance instructor available to teach a 4-6 week session in ballroom, swing, line, social dance, or a mixture of these styles in 2025.

The final schedule with exact dates and times is open to discussion. We hope to offer this dance opportunity as a special event and promote packages as great holiday gift ideas to members of our community.

Following this special session, we are interested in continuing to offer ongoing lessons and sessions with the qualified instructor in the future.

Threads Dance Project: Tapestries 9.0 Call for Proposals

Tapestries is an annual program from Threads Dance Project that serves emerging choreographers who identify as artists of color and/or women based in MN or NYC. Threads Dance Project recognizes the diversity and complexity of womanhood. If you identify with womanhood or gender-expansive ideas of it, you are welcome to apply. This includes trans and gender-expansive individuals.

Threads will commission 3 emerging choreographers, selected by an expert panel of dance/community leaders, to create new works for the spring 2025 season under the guidance of Artistic/Executive Director Karen L. Charles. This program gives underrepresented women and/or artists of color a platform in professional choreography, offering them a professional commissioning experience with access to dancers, designers, mentors, and technical support.

Applications are due by October 18 at 5:00pm CT.

Threads Dance Project Seeks Part-Time Development Coordinator

Threads Dance Project seeks a 0.5 FTE Development Coordinator.

The Development Coordinator will implement the development strategy for Karen L. Charles’ Threads Dance Project, focusing on grant writing, reporting, and managing individual donors. This role reports directly to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fundraising goals, including donations, grants, sponsorships, and in-kind services
  • Research, write, secure, and manage grants
  • Manage fundraising events, donor database, and develop marketing materials in collaboration with Threads’ Managing Director

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in dance, arts management, or non-profit management
  • Understanding of concert dance and non-profit funding is a plus

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of nonprofit development experience, including grant writing, donor relations, and event management
  • High energy, positive attitude, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically and understand strategic development
  • Experience working with senior executives and boards in a nonprofit setting
  • Proven ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage donor accounts
  • Strong skills in partnership-building and event planning
  • Proficiency in using email, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Knowledge of NEONCRM or similar donor management systems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at once

Compensation: Part-time, 20 hours a week at $20-25/hour.

DanceMN Seeks Co-Editor

DanceMN: All are connected to dance in Minnesota.

DanceMN is seeking a Co-Editor to proofread and publish the DanceMN News, a role to be shared with current Editor Annie Carlson. This position typically takes 3 to 5 hours per week, with the majority of the work happening Monday-Wednesday.

In addition to general proofreading, duties include responding to community and user inquiries, light administrative work, and communicating with the Co-Editor and DanceMN Steering Committee.

A computer and internet access is required. Interest/experience in dance is preferred. Experience with WordPress, Google Drive, and Mailchimp are helpful but not required. Compensation is $16-18 per hour, with likelihood of a cost of living increase each fiscal year.

Off-Leash Area is excited to announce the 2024/25 Off-Kilter Cabaret theme: Human Alchemy!

Off-Kilter is Off-Leash Area’s performance program designed to highlight and support artists with disabilities while making space for and giving voice to artists with disabilities in the design and leadership of the program.

Artist submissions opened on September 15 and will close on November 1.
Selected artists will be announced on December 6.
Performances run April 11-13, 2025 at The Jungle Theater.
