Borealis Dance Theatre celebrates year 5 of Dance Camera North International Dance Film Festival at the Capri Theatre in April 2025!

Dance Camera North provides space for dance filmmakers to challenge choreographic storytelling through film. This innovative platform creates the opportunity to expand the dynamic performative art of dance to larger audiences while pushing the envelope to what is possible through film.

Off-Leash Area is excited to announce the 2024/25 Off-Kilter Cabaret theme: Human Alchemy!

Off-Kilter is Off-Leash Area’s performance program designed to highlight and support artists with disabilities while making space for and giving voice to artists with disabilities in the design and leadership of the program.

Artist submissions are open until November 1.
Selected artists will be announced on December 6.
Performances run April 11-13, 2025 at The Jungle Theater.

Submit for the Rejects Cohort 24/25 show, running January 17-18 at Mixed Blood Theater at 7:00pm.

2024 Walker rejects, we want you involved in this! If you’re interested, come join us as we all fuel this fire of grassroots art creation! And please remember to make it to Choreographers’ Evening if you can!

Eligibility: If you auditioned for Choreographers’ Evening at the Walker this year and were not accepted, you are invited!

To apply, fill out this survey by November 9. 
We have space to accommodate 32 artists/groups; if we receive more applicants than this we will do a lottery! You will be assigned a number when you submit your survey. More information. We will notify you if you are in or not by November 11.

What is Offered:

  • 6-minute time slot on either Friday or Saturday to present the work that you auditioned for Choreographers’ Evening
  • Marley over wood floor and stage dimensions of 32′ x 24′
  • 20-minute tech time with a lighting designer provided
  • Marketing/advertising for the show
  • Video and photography of the show
  • Social engagement/workshop to meet the cohort on January 12; not required but encouraged if you are available

Unfortunately, there is no stipend promised. We hope to break even with ticket sales. If any profit from donations or ticket sales is made, it will be split among the companies!

Audition for CONVERGE with Amez Dance, Analog Dance Works, and RJDT

A collaborative production by Amez Dance, Analog Dance Works, and Ruby Josephine Dance Theater, CONVERGE is a 3-company production spotlighting the next generation of dance companies in the Twin Cities. Amez Dance, Analog Dance Works, and Ruby Josephine Dance Theater come together in a synergistic collaboration to create 3 new explorational contemporary dance works with a shared cohort of local movers, uplifting values of community, connection, and opening up doors and perspectives for both dance artists and audiences. 

We are searching for 7 dancers to be a part of this project. Movers of all different dance backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to audition, however, we are looking for those with strong skills in contemporary. All dancers will be cast in all three company works and must be available for the entirety of the rehearsal process. 

In-Person Audition: November 17 from 10:00am-12:00pm at Lundstrum Performing Arts.

Virtual Audition: Videos must be submitted through the form below by November 17 at 12:00pm CT.

Performance dates: July 18-20, 2025

Rhythmically Speaking Call for Choreographer Interest

Rhythmically Speaking, a Twin Cities-based dance company with a 16-year history and a national reputation for excellence in sparking vibrancy and connectedness through jazz and American social dance ideas, currently has a Call for Choreographer Interest live to help us get to know artists who may be interested in working with us on future annual summer programs, which in 2025 will include a film screening with collaborator Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema.

Prima Classical Coaching: Teaching and Administrative Support

Prima Classical Coaching is a classical ballet studio in Edina, MN offering a range of classes for students ages 2-18, including a pre-professional Conservatory program.

We value the tradition of classical ballet with the integration of character, modern, jazz, and other dance forms. Prima is proud of our intentional community, integration of fun and work ethic into every class, and passionate instruction!

At the moment, we have needs for both teaching and administrative staff.

Teaching Staff: immediate needs for the rest of the 2024-2025 school year for ballet ages 5-18, creative movement for ages 2-4, and other styles such as modern, jazz, character, improvisation, and more to build the diversity of our program.

Responsibilities: arrive early for all assigned classes, foster personal relationships with each student in class, attend monthly staff meetings, help to create and adhere to the syllabus for each style and level, choreograph and assist with rehearsals when appropriate

Administrative Support – in search of an enrollment coordinator to assist with scheduling trial classes, creating a warm and welcoming environment, and completing follow-up protocols

Responsibilities: connect via phone or email with new inquiries, schedule trial classes, be there to physically greet and give a tour to trial students, helping with dancewear purchases and managing the Prima Shop, assist with registration, and continue follow-up and welcome sequence.

Compensation: experience dependent. Ideal candidate is willing to commit to working for 1-2 years minimum to support the community atmosphere.

Threads Dance Project Seeks Part-Time Development Coordinator

The Development Coordinator will implement the development strategy for Karen L. Charles’ Threads Dance Project, focusing on grant writing, reporting, and managing individual donors. This role reports directly to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fundraising goals, including donations, grants, sponsorships, and in-kind services
  • Research, write, secure, and manage grants

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent in dance, arts management, or non-profit management
  • Understanding of concert dance and non-profit funding is a plus

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of nonprofit development experience, including grant writing, donor relations, and event management
  • High energy, positive attitude, flexibility, and strong teamwork skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically and understand strategic development
  • Experience working with senior executives and boards in a nonprofit setting
  • Proven ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage donor accounts
  • Strong skills in partnership-building and event planning
  • Proficiency in using email, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Knowledge of NEONCRM or similar donor management systems
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects at once

Compensation: Part-time, 20 hours a week at $20-25/hour.

DanceMN Seeks Co-Editor

DanceMN: All are connected to dance in Minnesota.

DanceMN is seeking a Co-Editor to proofread and publish the DanceMN News, a role to be shared with current Editor Annie Carlson. This position typically takes 3 to 5 hours per week, with the majority of the work happening Monday-Wednesday.

In addition to general proofreading, duties include responding to community and user inquiries, light administrative work, and communicating with the Co-Editor and DanceMN Steering Committee.

A computer and internet access is required. Interest/experience in dance is preferred. Experience with WordPress, Google Drive, and Mailchimp are helpful but not required. Compensation is $16-18 per hour, with likelihood of a cost of living increase each fiscal year.
