Dance/Movement Therapy with Children: A Developmental Perspective (2 credits/30 hrs)

Pre-requisite: 30 hrs/2 cr DMT coursework or permission of instructor. This course can also be taken for university credit through the Center for Spirituality and Healing. Contact Barbara for details.

This experiential and didactic course focuses on child development from birth up to adolescence as well as the role movement plays when working with children. The course will emphasize movement development through the lens of movement assessment (LMA and KMP) as well as introduce and practice concepts for DMT based therapeutic interventions. Attention will be paid to both the genetic (“nature”) and environmental (“nurture”) factors influencing movement and development. This course is approved by the American Dance Therapy Association, for Alternate Route R-DMT credit.
