Authentic Movement (AM) nurtures the ability to be deeply present to both one’s own and another’s embodied experiences. In this didactic and experiential course, participants will continue to learn about and explore the form of Authentic Movement in relationship to clinical work. Specific foci include: 1) exploring and deepening an understanding the Witness role, in relationship to client/therapist intersubjectivity, somatic countertransference, and kinesthetic empathy; and 2) briefly exploring adaptations and contraindications of Authentic Movement with different populations and settings. This course is appropriate for anyone interested in integrating more embodied, somatically based approaches into their clinical practice and others who want to deepen their understanding and experience of Authentic Movement. This course is approved by the ADTA for credit toward the R-DMT through alternate route.
