Tapestries is an annual program from Threads Dance Project that serves emerging choreographers who identify as artists of color and/or women. Threads Dance Project recognizes the diversity and complexity of womanhood. If you identify with womanhood or gender-expansive ideas of it, you are welcome to apply. This includes trans and gender-expansive individuals.
Threads will commission 3 emerging choreographers, selected by an expert panel of dance/community leaders, to create new works for the spring 2025 season under the guidance of Artistic/Executive Director Karen L. Charles. This program gives underrepresented women and/or artists of color a platform in professional choreography, offering them a professional commissioning experience with access to dancers, designers, mentors, and technical support.
Applications are due by October 18 at 5:00pm CT.
