Staying With: Movement Improvisation Workshop Series with Tamin Totzke - September 30 to October 21

Staying With is an improvisational movement series where we lean into the known—our familiar movement patterns, habits, and histories—to guide us towards the unknown. Moving in solo, duets, and ensemble, we will both honor and disrupt habitual impulses, while also exploring gradients of touch and energetic connections with ourselves and others.

This series draws from Somatic Experiencing, somatic release techniques, ensemble, and contact improvisation. Questioning: How can we lean more deeply into our practice of improvisation when there’s uncertainty and discomfort?

Each class is limited to a small group to allow for writing, discussion, and building rapport as an ensemble. It is recommended that participants commit to the whole series, as each class will build upon the next; however, please reach out if you are only able to drop in.

Tamin Totzke holds an MFA in Dance and is a dance educator and somatic psychotherapist. She taught at the University of Washington and has been dancing for 10 years with the Seattle ensemble improvisation company, AVID. Tamin teaches improvisation throughout the United States and dances with an improvisation group here in Minneapolis.
