The Dance Rec Pickup League (DRPL) joins composer/director JG Everest for a new site-specific performance installation at the new Sound Garden sound sculpture at Caponi Art Park as part of the annual Eagan Art Block Festival on Saturday, September 26.
DRPL performs for free at 1:00pm and 3:00pm with roving live musical accompaniment by members of the Free Range Orchestra and Choir.
DRPL is dancers Sarah Baumert, Leslie O’Neil, Gabe Anderson, Erika Hansen, Jamie Ryan, and Eva Mohn creating spontaneous improvisational scores that ebb and flow in layered patterns that allow for shifting perspectives and playful serendipity. The new Sound Garden sound installation site at Caponi features 30 independent speakers, each playing a different part of the whole piece of music, designed and composed spatially so that every step, every turn of the head, results in a new mix of the “symphony” and a deeper connection to the landscape and natural world.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
