Katha Dance Theatre Seeks Guest Artist for Upcoming Performance - March 28

Katha Dance Theatre (KDT) is a professional dance company that has been performing Kathak, the North Indian classical dance form, for over three decades. Kathak is an elegant dance form characterized by rhythmic footwork, graceful hand gestures, pirouettes, lyrical movements, and storytelling.

KDT seeks a male/male-identifying dancer to perform as a guest artist in its upcoming production of Black Candle. The production is a collection of five dances enacting poems that evoke South Asian female joy, love, power and strength in overcoming adversity, and the guest artist would be needed for one dance.

Applicants should have professional dance experience with a background in ballet, modern, contemporary and/or tap dance. Theatrical experience is preferred, but not required.

Rehearsals take place on Monday/Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, though the guest artist will not be needed at every rehearsal. The guest artist should be able to start rehearsing by mid-April, where they will be needed intermittently through the end of May. Tech week is May 30 – June 2.

The performance will take place at the Southern Theater June 3 – 5, 2022. This will be a paid position, stipend DOE. To apply, please send a professional resumé and brief (video) work example to info@kathadance.org. Deadline: March 28
