Body Watani: body-as-homeland practice and Arabic dance with Leila Awadallah

TU Dance Center’s open classes are back! Join us for in-person dance classes for intermediate/advanced dancers with teaching Artist Leila Awadallah.

Body Watani (body-as-homeland practice and Arabic dance)

A class in two parts.
Weaving questions around ancestral, home/land roots and memories of place and beings, the first half of Body Watani practice is a guided improvisation endeavor in unraveling, seeking, and grappling with what notions of home and complex histories live within each of our different, and specific bodies. Led by Palestinian American artists Leila and Noelle Awadallah, the second half of Body Watani activates movement techniques and choreographic material rooted in SWANA / Arabic dance and music, ranging from traditional to experimental.

Thursdays, 10:30am – 12:00pm
June 16, 2021 – July 2, 2021
