Donations to DanceMN Help Minnesota Dance Thrive

Dear DanceMN Readers,

What a year it’s been! With the closing of the Cowles Center and additional community changes, we continue to reflect and evolve. DanceMN has been exploring our role within the community and ways we can facilitate improvements and growth.

Help DanceMN Thrive Today!

Foremost, we want to thank all of you who contributed to our survey, and participated in our hosted community conversations. Approximately 150 individuals answered the survey, and the 3 virtual gatherings were filled with lively conversations and many thought provoking questions. Listening to the community has helped shape our future plans.

In the coming year, our focus is to dive into our vision that “All are connected to dance in Minnesota” by expanding connections with communities beyond the Twin Cities metro, youth and emerging artists, and dance aesthetics outside of the Western canon. Dance in Minnesota is a dynamic tapestry, and we want the newsletter and website to reflect this vibrancy more fully. DanceMN needs funds to further our website offerings, showcase dance resources in new ways, expand our social media engagement, and build relationships with those identified above.

All these efforts require time and funding, and your contributions have never been more important. Please consider making a tax deductible contribution during the GiveMN campaign this month. These donations will help fund not only our weekly newsletter and website, but in implementing the resulting outcomes. We so appreciate your support of DanceMN, and are grateful for any amount contributed!

Thank you,

Support DanceMN During Spring/Summer Fundraiser!

Dear All,

Summer has arrived along with changing rhythms – did you connect to dance this month?

In 2021, DanceMN developed a new vision: All are Connected to Dance in Minnesota.

This is such a significant statement that we want to set it as our core strategic goal: we want the people of Minnesota to feel connected to dance from their living rooms, the street, or on-stage.

Why do we care so much? “We love dance!”

DanceMN asks you to please help us reach our strategic goals! To those who have already made a contribution: Thank You! To those who have yet to donate: Now is the perfect time to consider the value DanceMN adds to your world!

In 2024, we released a survey to better understand our subscribers and held three engaging community conversations to help learn how we may better support our community. This includes developing a stronger social-media presence. If you use Facebook or Instagram, follow us and tag us on your dance endeavors: @DanceMN_News

We hope to widen the reach of our audience and to find ways to connect with people who haven’t used our free and un-curated services!

With these goals in mind, we turn to you to support DanceMN in our efforts. Your contribution is not just financial aid, but a catalyst that helps transform our vision statement into results-oriented action. Your support is essential in connecting to Minnesota dance: GiveMN.org/DanceMN.

If you prefer to contribute via check, please make your donation payable to Springboard for the Arts with DanceMN in the memo line. Send to Springboard for the Arts, DanceMN c/o Incubator, 262 University Ave W, St. Paul, MN 55103.

We all do better together!

Thank you for your support.

Invitation to Join DanceMN in Conversation – May 5 to May 7

DanceMN is a free, uncurated weekly newsletter. We believe that all styles of dance and areas of our state deserve representation in our materials.

To that end, we want students, emerging artists, established individuals and organizations, schools, studios, universities, audience members, community dance groups, teachers, hobbyists, social media dancers, financial stakeholders, and YOU to know that DanceMN exists to support and connect with you—no matter where you live in Minnesota.

If you aren’t using DanceMN to showcase or share your activities, or to find ways to participate in dance, help us understand why. Join us for one of three upcoming conversations to discuss how DanceMN can better achieve its vision that “all our connected to dance in Minnesota.”

Sign up to participate in a virtual discussion, hosted via Zoom:

Each conversation will follow the same format so please only sign up for one. Conversations will be facilitated by Ashleigh Penrod of Mess Hill and informed by results obtained from DanceMN’s recent community survey.

This opportunity to engage with our community is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Sincerely,

The DanceMN Steering Committee
