Join the Center for Performing Arts for our annual fall festival Xcultures: A Celebration of Performance & Collaboration! The night will be filled with cultural performances, food, drinks and new works from our Artist in Residence. So, join us because you’re in for a treat!
Artists In Residence:
Masanari Kawahara + Alys Ayumi Ogura
Their new work explores the dichotomies our their shared Japanese heritage and careers in performance. Masa is a Butoh practitioner while Yumi trains in Modern and Contemporary dance forms. Their work will relish in the themes of celebrating differences while co-existing peacefully.
Erica Jo Vibar Sherwood + Asha Rowland + Renee Copeland
Their new work explores the symbolism of the fish, blue deer and snake within their Sicilian, Mexican, Panamian and Punjabi heritages. This new work will unite the Caribbean and Mediterranian seas to showcase their collectively rich histories.
Isabella Dawis + Kyle Weiler
Their new work explores the significance of 4! Their careers as musician/composor and dancer/director has drawn them to the infamous Quartet. Now they are moving beyond music to explore the interconnection to other powerful 4s; Directions, Elements and Seasons and how they are represented within their cultural heritage.
