This course is not your ordinary dance class— which tends to primarily focus on the physicality of the pupil. What sets this class apart is that every lesson focuses on the whole child—which includes their spirit, soul, and body. In order to do that, pupils will be required to memorize scripture, identify the different Hebrew words that mean praise, and demonstrate the expression of the Hebrew word in movement. By taking this approach, not only is the child learning different movements that give God praise, but they also have understanding as it relates to God’s Holy Scripture and can communicate why they praise Him in such a manner. Some activities may incorporate the use of props such as tambourines, drums, and silk ribbons. This will provide a tangible experience to bring to life what has been taught.
At the end of the course, students will prepare a presentation to demonstrate what they have learned about praise. This will be a fun and exciting class that fosters creativity, teaches coordination, musicality, expression in movement, and growth in the fundamentals of “Praise” dance. When students complete this class, they will be able to articulate what praise dance is, they will be able to display their own physical expression of movement, and have an increased knowledge of Psalm 150 and the Hebrew words we studied related to praise.
