At the age of 6, Twin Cities resident and two-time McKnight Fellow JINZA THAYER was torn from her native Japan and tossed into the United States. Her latest work, From Tokyo to Brooklyn: A Jagged Journey, takes us in and around the NORTHROP THEATER for a wild ride to experience what it’s like to be an immigrant in this country.

From Tokyo to Brooklyn is the latest production of Movement Architecture, a decades-long contemporary dance company based in the Twin Cities. Movement Architecture, under the direction of Jinza Thayer, creates, educates, and heals through movement and audience interaction. From Tokyo to Brooklyn is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and an active circle of local donors and supporters.

In a world where immigration is a daily news topic, From Tokyo to Brooklyn is a timely production and should not be missed.
