Carmen Dancer Audition

Location: Minnesota Opera Center, 620 N 1st Street, Minneapolis, MN 55401 in Bemis Rehearsal Hall on the Lower Level

Audition Details: Audition will be conducted by Eric Sean Fogel, choreographer and associate director. Auditions will be video recorded for the choreographer’s use in casting, but there will be no public usage of video. Minnesota Opera is looking for Twin Cities based dancers with a strong modern and contemporary dance background who can act and have a strong sense of musicality. Dancers of any race and gender are welcome and encouraged to audition.

The audition will consist of several short dance combinations. There will be no warm up given as part of the audition. Space and time to warm up will be provided before the audition.

Roles/Performance Details: Dancers will appear as various characters throughout the opera, appearing in all 4 acts.

Schedule: The preliminary rehearsal schedule can be found at https://bit.ly/MNOPCarmenDancers We will also be adding an additional 15 hours of dance rehearsal at a time to be determined between April 4th and May 3rd, 2022.

Compensation: $2280 paid as an independent contractor

Desired Abilities: Strong modern and contemporary background. Acting ability. Strong sense of musicality.

COVID-19 Protocols & Vaccination Requirement:
Minnesota Opera is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all our team members and has a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in place which follows guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, as well as industry guidance for safe performing arts activities.
All staff, artists, contractors, and other parties directly engaged by Minnesota Opera are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their first date of in-person work. Proof of vaccination will be required. As of Dec 2021, the current CDC definition of full vaccinated is two weeks after your final vaccine dose. COVID policies are subject to change as the best practice recommendations evolve.
All participants will be required to comply with Minnesota Opera COVID-19 safety protocols as a condition of employment, which include proper wearing of acceptable face coverings in MNOP facilities, including during rehearsals, and regular COVID-19 testing at no expense to the participant.
