Base is excited to announce an open call for artists to apply to the 2024-2025 Base Residency Program, a one- and two-week immersive residency experience. Since opening in 2016, Base has awarded 26 multi-week residencies to individual artists and collaborators. The aim of the program is to counter the ongoing shortage of affordable creative space in Seattle—an unintended consequence of the city’s rapid development—through experiences of unrestricted creative time at Base.
This residency is intended to support artists in all stages of their careers who are engaged in experimental or risk-taking work that incorporates multiple disciplines but is primarily movement-based. Applications are open to artists living in the U.S.––we strongly encourage intersectionally marginalized artists who identify as Disabled, BIPOC, LGBTQ2IA+, and/or low-income to apply.
As part of the application process, applicants must choose to receive either a one- or two-week residency between Feb. – Aug. 2025. Selected artists will also receive technical, marketing and professional development support and mentorship and an unrestricted artist fee of $1,000 per week.
