Berit Ahlgren is teaching Gaga in December!
December 6, 22, 26, 29
Gaga/people classes are open to people ages sixteen and older, regardless of their background in dance or movement. No previous dance experience is needed. Gaga/people classes last for one hour and are taught by dancers who have worked closely with Ohad Naharin. Teachers guide the participants using a series of evocative instructions that build one on top of the other. Rather than copying a particular movement, each participant in the class actively explores these instructions, discovering how he or she can interpret the information and perform the task at hand. Gaga/people classes offer a creative framework for participants to connect to their bodies and imaginations, increase their physical awareness, improve their flexibility and stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere.
Suggested donation of $10.

Tuning Score is an improvisational movement practice guided by a set of “scores”. This practice is about developing a relationship between your body and the space, your body itself and with others' bodies, and how your body might respond to others, to uncertainty, and to its orientation and directionality. This practice is joyful and also head-scratching at times. You will be in the company of others in a similar place. This work is often done with eyes switching between the states of open and closed.
Payment: "pay what you can" donation
If you wish to come or to receive more specifics about the practice, send an email to Jennifer Arave.
This practice is open to all levels of movers, all are invited to explore.
Parking is available one block north of Central on Lowry behind the large church.
In this class students will explore many aspects of partnering technique, from sharing weight to exploring levels of touch. Students will learn how to safely and successfully make contact and support another body in space, and may be challenged to choreograph short partnering phrases or collectively solve creative problems. No partners or experience is necessary.
Alexandra Bodnarchuk is a Minneapolis-based dance artist who hails from Pittsburgh, PA. She currently moves with Black Label Movement (BLM) in addition to pursuing her own choreographic projects.
