We invite you to join Zone Choreographer José A Luis each Monday at 10:00am for Modern: Presence in Movement

José A. Luis was born in Veracruz, Mexico; raised in Racine, Wisconsin; and is now based in Minneapolis. Considered a “late-dancer”, José's formal training began at UW-Milwaukee, where he graduated with a BFA in Dance. He continued to perform locally before moving to dance with REDance in Chicago and presented in festivals throughout the Midwest. As a solo choreographer and often his own dancer, he is attuned to his body and artistic vision changing through time.

This modern-based class will focus on being present through movement, thus empowering our individual bodies. Intention will be our guiding theme in learning foreign choreography ranging from the “simple” to “complex”. You can expect: a check-in process for awareness, anatomically geared movement for a conscious body, and virtuosic phrase work for holistic placement of ourselves in the environment. Everyone welcomed.

Friday Morning Jazz with Karla Grotting and Erinn Liebhard is BACK for Zenon's Winter 2021 session. A message from Karla, who is at the helm again this week:

"I know. The world is upside down. It's frightening, discouraging, infuriating, and hard to feel like dancing. I'm planning this week's FMJ class to help pull us out of our heads and back into our bodies, and to connect to the histories and physicalities of this powerful, and resilient form. We'll ease in with a body-friendly warm-up, build some steam, deepen our connections, coordinate, context, and dance it out. I'd love to have you join me; open level, drop-ins welcome. Let's do this together. Discounts available for students, educators, and anyone in need, just ask."

See you on Zoom on Friday!
